Calling

We had our Get Strong Saturday this past weekend. For those who aren’t familiar, Get Strong Saturday is a ministry we partner with where we work out together and then spend time talking about Jesus. It wasn’t a huge crowd, but it was exactly who needed to be there. The conversation was honest, meaningful, and encouraging.
The scripture we centered on was Hebrews 12:1-2:
“Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
That passage led to 45-60 minutes of great conversation.
One question I asked a participant and friend at the end was:
“Do you feel what you’re pursuing will sustain you through the hard times? Through the uncertain times?”
Let’s be real for a minute. I think every business owner has questioned at some point whether what they’re doing actually matters. Whether they should keep going, sell, shut the doors, or move on to something else.
Maybe it was the time a member personally attacked a decision you made. Maybe it was the month you weren’t sure how payroll was going to get covered. Whatever the situation, we’ve all had those moments where we wondered if it was worth it.
So the question becomes:
Is what you’re doing enough of a calling on your life that you’re willing to persevere through those seasons?
Or is it simply a paycheck?
Don’t get me wrong—we all have bills to pay. My flesh would love to make more money and do some really cool things. If it were up to me, we’d probably live in an RV and I’d have a garage bigger than my house.
But beyond the paycheck, do you have purpose? Do you feel fulfilled by what you do?
Maybe it’s time to make a change. Maybe you’re ready to take a leap into a new career. Maybe you’re ready to finally start that side hustle you’ve been talking about. Maybe God is calling you to something more.
The bigger question is this:
Are you living and working according to God’s purpose for your life?
It won’t be easy. It won’t be handed to you. But I believe it will be worth it.
As we talked Saturday, this kept weighing on my heart. Spend time with God. Get quiet. Go deep. Ask Him what He has for you.
Find the thing that drives you. The thing that keeps you moving forward even when the storm comes. The thing that makes you keep walking up that rainy, muddy, slippery hill when every part of you wants to turn around.
Everything in life has ups and downs. But when the down times come—and they will—it’s a lot harder to persevere without God and without purpose.
Keep your eyes on Jesus. Keep moving forward.
Love y’all.
Have an amazing week. We’ll see you in the gym 💪🙏
