Snatch Drops

Snatch drops are an easy exercise to build confidence and ability under the bar.

A snatch drop mimics the drop under the bar after the pull.  Since the bar is already at shoulder height it gives you plenty of time to get under the bar.  (It is like you pulled the bar up to your shoulders.)  Since you have this extra advantage most people can do more weight in the Snatch Drop than their Snatch.  This adds to the lifters confidence to control heavy weight.

You can develop your ability to drop under the weight, also.  This is critical for anyone that wants to Olympic lift.  This builds your ability to commit to being under the bar and supporting the load overhead.  When this ability is reached your will not be afraid to drop under any weight you pulled from the ground.

Remember keep your core and shoulders tight, and drop in to that Olympic squat position.
